The international mobility of our apprentices is a strategic focus of our CFA. Awareness of the rest of the world, learning a foreign language, and new experiences provide our students with opportunities for professional enrichment.

Faculté des Métiers de l’Essonne has built up special relationships with several partner schools in Europe (Norway, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Spain, etc.), which gives our apprentices the benefit of exchange programmes and, in some cases, five-month immersion periods abroad.

In 2007-2008, 175 apprentices and trainees had the opportunity to work in a cross-cultural context, and 44 foreign students visited our training centre.

Thanks to this background of co-operation, international mobility is available to our apprentices from Level V and now extends to all of our training departments: crafts, industry, tertiary.

Highlights included a celebration of ten years of partnership with the 'Thor Heyerdahl Videregaende Skole' in Norway. During this visit to Norway, our catering apprentices had the opportunity to export the excellence of French cuisine.

A ceremony was held in October 2007 to award European certificates to all of our apprentices and a Europass to each one who participated in the long mobility programme, giving Europe-wide recognition of their experience and skills.

In November 2008, the Ile-de-France Regional Council awarded a special prize to Faculté des Métiers for its promotion of apprenticeship internationally, and in particular for the quality of its exchanges with Norway.

Last year the Socrates agency, in charge of co-operation programmes for the European Commission, awarded us the European Mobility Trophy for the excellence of our transnational courses.
In parallel, we are developing humanitarian actions for African countries. Mr Diop Salla, the Senegalese ambassador, came to talk about the benefits of this joint effort and the installation of computers in the schools of Foundiougne led by our MRIM Bac Pro apprentices.

We want to make international apprenticeship a strength of our school, to favour the integration of our young apprentices in the job market.
